FAQ
We offer a 1-hour Home Improvement Consultation where we do a comprehensive walkthrough of the interior and exterior of your home. We then tell you all about your home’s specific needs, providing you with documentation that tells you the urgency of each area of maintenance and when to budget for those projects. This Home Improvement Consultation is $250.
We do not. Plumbing and electrical requires special licensing which we do not have. We will provide recommendations for those we have worked with in the past, but it is up to you as the homeowner to choose who you want inside your home
We are not contractors. We are educators who happen to also do carpentry, painting, and other services. Contractors charge a contracting fee that is very expensive. We eliminate that cost by giving you the freedom to choose us as the carpenter and painter, and others for plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc. That way you are only paying us for the services we provide on-site, saving you a LOT of money by not paying contracting fees for us to just make phone calls.
Cash, ACH, or Check made out to ‘You Name It’. In some cases we do accept Credit Cards, but with fees being high, we limit this to single day projects. Upon approving our estimate via email, 100% material cost and 30% labor cost are due upon the 1st week of booking with the remainder due upon completion. This allows us to order all necessary materials and have them on-site and ready to go for the scheduled start date!
On our “about us” section on our website, you will see photos of John and Joeci. For carpentry, John will take the lead. For painting, Joeci will take the lead. In the spring and summer, we employee seasonal crews of young men and women who are between jobs or who need flexible employment around classes their taking or child-care needs. We like to be a landing zone for hard workers who cannot commit to full-time or part-time employment elsewhere. John or Joeci will introduce you to whichever crew is there and rarely leave crews unattended on-site.
As with any illness, we stay home when sick and inform you of the schedule change. We will wear a mask upon request. We would also ask our clients to please not have us come to the home if they are sick as well.
We love pets. We would spend all day snuggling them if we could! Unfortunately, it can be difficult to do our jobs to the highest standard if our clients have jumpers, cuddlers, or excessive barkers. If at all possible, please keep pets away from the worksite so that there are no injuries or messes made that could have been avoided. Additionally, pet hair sticks to wet paint, causing many imperfections, so pets should be kept away from a wet room until it dries.
Children are people! They’re welcome to take up space no matter where they are. We will openly inform you if a site is unsafe or if paint is too messy for helping hands.
Many of our clients provide us with a key to their homes and many prefer to be there at all times. It makes no difference to us. Please understand the noise that is associated with carpentry projects and plan your home schedule accordingly.
Please provide a shoveled path from parking to the doors of the home. We have materials that need to come inside and we do not offer snow removal.
Remove artwork from walls and place in another room. We will remove nails or hardware and fill holes. Move any furniture with fine China, trinkets, or other breakables at least two feet from the wall. We can typically take care of the rest of the furniture; we just don’t want to come close to breaking your décor!
We are in Lunenburg, Massachusetts. We travel within a 10-mile radius of Lunenburg for carpentry projects and within 1-hour for painting projects. However, we do make exceptions and are willing to discuss this with you!
Yes! Upon request, we will provide a certificate of insurance. This will be sent to your email directly from our insurance provider.
